PRYSOLAR, the new generation of solar cables

For large-scale photovoltaic installations that are growing in size and power, as well as in service voltage, and the geographic areas where they are installed are increasingly exposed to extreme and unpredictable weather conditions such as heavy rain and floods.

Prysmian PRYSOLAR is an innovative solution based on Prysmian Group's experience and know-how of over 20 years in the design and production of photovoltaic cables. It is designed to face the most unpredictable challenges and withstand the real climatic conditions to which photovoltaic installations are subjected, ensuring greater operational efficiency of assets.

Prysmian Group has developed a test, WET-I 1500, to certify the long-term water resistance of Prysmian PRYSOLAR cables in direct current.

Why are photovoltaic cables so important? Photovoltaic cables are part of the Balance of System (BOS) of a photovoltaic system and represent only 1-2% of the total installation cost. However, they are critical components of the system, and any malfunction disrupts energy production. Extreme weather events, such as heavy rain and floods, can cause cable deterioration and failure, negatively impacting energy production capacity, energy delivery reliability, and return on investment.

Designed for interconnecting various elements in photovoltaic systems with a DC voltage of up to 1.8 kV, the new design provides optimal long-term water resistance and resistance to ultraviolet (UV) rays with an estimated useful thermal life of 30 years. It offers an exceptional solution for the photovoltaic solar industry due to its high reliability, allowing for greater operational efficiency of assets and maximizing return on investment.
